Apprenticeships
An apprenticeship is a job where you learn a skill or trade. The training is free as long as you have a full time job and are aged between 16 - 19.
There are apprenticeships in many different occupations. Which apprenticeship is right for you will depend on your interests, your experience and the opportunities in your area.
Earn while you Learn
As an apprentice you will work for an employer and be paid a wage or training allowance.
You will have a contract of employment and will be entitled to holidays and all the other terms of employment that the rest of the workforce have.
Qualifications
There are different levels of apprenticeship available and they all lead to National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs), key skills qualifications and a technical certificate accredited by an awarding body such as BTEC or
City & Guilds.
The levels covered in an apprenticeship are levels 2 and 3.
Dont forget - The more qualified you are in your specialist area the more employable you will be and the more money you can earn.
